In 2013 there was a disturbance in a freshmen class room. While I was eating lunch, my principal sent me to the room to see what was going on. I met Erica, the girl second from the right, leading a ‘riot’ in a room with a sub. I told her she had better have her progress report in her pocket at all times as we were going to get to know one another. Over the next 4 years the Breakfast Club developed. In the end, five first ‘gen’ generation students would come together every morning for breakfast. Some mornings were real, hard and sometimes not a word was said. They all graduated. |
